Top 3 Record Stores In Pittsburgh

If you aren’t familiar with my blog yet, you need to know the main purpose is to promote or highlight some of Pittsburgh’s hidden gems. So, in honor of National Vinyl Day on August 12, I have decided to share some of my favorite record stores in the Pittsburgh area.

Although many people choose to stream music for free, record stores provide music lovers a sense of nostalgia and excitement that they can’t get from an app on their phone. If you are from the Pittsburgh area and looking for new/old music, you need to check out these 3 stores!

  1. Jerry’s Records

Jerry’s Record’s in Squirrel Hill is without a doubt the best record store in Pittsburgh. Jerry’s has hundreds of used Rock, Alternative, Jazz, Country, Funk and Gospel albums scattered throughout the store. Because it is a used record store, you may not always find what you’re looking for, but you never know what you may find! New arrivals are located at the front end of the store along with the more popular choices. I found one of my favorite albums, Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, within minutes of being there. All of the employees at Jerry’s are passionate about music and extremely helpful. If you haven’t been to Jerry’s, I highly recommend it.

2. The Government Center

Next up, is the Government Center in the North Side. This fairly new record store is clean, organized and has a very cool aesthetic. Located at 519 E. Ohio Street, the shore sells new and used albums, CDs, cassettes and turntables. You can buy, sell or trade music spanning all genres at the Government Center. But that’s not all, The Government Center hosts live bands and other events for music lovers!

3. The Attic Record Store

Last but not least, we have The Attic Record Store in Millvale. The Attic has been around since 1980, selling new and used records. Prices vary widely, but you can almost always find what you’re looking for! My favorite part of this store in particular, is the crazy mural they have on the side of the building. Great photo opportunity for the Gram!
