Pittsburgh is known for many things: delicious food, championship winning sports teams and unique sites, but lately the Pittsburgh music scene has been full of surprises! Although Pittsburgh is home to many Grammy winning artists, it’s also the home of local artists who make a living by playing in venues around the Burgh. This week I am spotlighting one of these local bands because they deserve to be recognized for their hard work and dedication to their craft.

The Living Street is a folk-rock duo from Burrell, Pennsylvania. Edward J. Angelo and Nick Guckert have been writing and performing music together for over a decade, but came together to form The Living Street in 2017. The duo recently moved to Mount Washington, and plan to make an impact in the Pittsburgh music scene. Since dropping their first album, the duo has been touring the country playing shows almost every night!

Because I personally know the band, I may be a bit bias here, but both Angelo and Guckert are extremely dedicated, down to earth, and easy on the eyes!  The band is likeable because of their relatable songs typically written about love, heartbreak and their passion for music. Their music has a good mix of feel-good songs and slower emotional songs.

When they aren’t playing shows, they are writing new material. After a year and a half of performing, writing and producing, their sophomore Album “It Won’t Last” will be released on all  music streaming platforms on August 30th.

Their album release show will be held at Club Cafe in South Side on Friday, August 30th. Tickets are $15 and include a copy of the album “It Won’t Last.” Tickets can be purchased online at thelivingstreet.com.

Don’t worry if you can’t catch that show there are plenty more opportunities to see them live in Pittsburgh when they return from their tour!

In the meantime, hit them with a follow on all social media platforms @TheLivingStreet and stay updated daily. You can listen to their current releases on all music streaming devices.
